After a hiatus of seven years, we have decided to print a copy of our newsletter again.  Oceanside Quarterly, the Chamber's new printed quarterly report and newsletter, hit the streets this past Friday and will be mailed to members.  Copies are being distributed around town and are available at the Chamber office, local businesses, libraries and other places.  This edition featured the retirement of David Nydegger, the Candidates Forums, Measure MM, new and renewing members as well as Chamber and community events.  To view this publication online click here

At a candidates forum on September 27th sponsored by the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce’s Business and Community Political Action Committee (BACPAC), the candidates for Oceanside City Council were asked a series of 7 questions requiring a “yes” or “no” answers.  This yes/no format was used to ensure that each candidate’s response was clear and could be impartially scored.  These questions specifically related to business issues and were designed to evaluate a candidate’s “business friendliness”.  Read More.

Sprit of Sharing, a local non-profit organization collects donations year round in person, by mail, and online, including automobile donations and other assets, to help our active duty military families throughout southern California each year during the holiday season.
Each year, during the Holiday Season, we share the gifts of caring and giving with those that often are the most deserving, yet the most in need of that assistance, help and support–our local military community.
Our Mission Statement: S.O.S. is a 501(c) (3) organization aimed at helping to provide a Christmas to those military families in Southern California who need some assistance in bringing the magic of the season into their lives. We accept drop off donations to our warehouse, now located at 1361 Rocky Point Drive Oceanside CA 92056.

MSLR Dia de los Muertos 2014 22816th Annual Dia De Los Muertos Festival-Mission and the Community unite to keep Dia in Oceanside
Community organizers came together to keep the Dia de los Muertos Festival in Oceanside.  Spearheaded by many and headed by Cathy Nykiel, Dave Mears of Legendary Event Management and Chema and Manuel Navarro of Por Siempre Car Club, the festival will continue this tradition in Oceanside at the Old Mission San Luis Rey again for its 16th celebratory year.   Working with the Mission’s CEO, Kathleen Flanagan, they were able to ensure that the celebration took place again this year at Oceanside’s jewel, the King of the Missions. The City of Oceanside is preparing a General Plan Update, the first phase of which involves two new General Plan elements addressing economic development and energy/climate action. The Economic Development Element will establish policies that support existing businesses, invite new businesses, facilitate employment readiness, promote job growth, and stimulate the expansion of commercial services.  The Energy/Climate Action Element will outline policies that encourage energy efficiency, renewable energy, alternative transportation, urban forestry, local food sourcing, water conservation, and other sustainable practices. We need your input!  Public Workshops will be held October 19 & October 27 at 5:30 in the City Council Chambers at 300 N. Coast Highway.
