Make a Difference in South Bay
at the 15th Annual Beautify Chula Vista Day!

I Love A Clean San Diego and the City of Chula Vista are excited for this year’s Beautify Chula Vista Day! Join us on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM and help us celebrate Beautify Chula Vista Day’s 15th year by giving back to the Chula Vista community with a cleanup and several beautification projects! This event as a whole has made an extensive impact on the City of Chula Vista and will continue on its path to make a difference for the years to come! It is truly amazing the results that can come from one morning with hundreds of enthusiastic volunteers!

This year, volunteers can meet us at one of the following two locations:

Rice Canyon at Discovery Park
700 Buena Vista Way, Chula Vista, CA 91910

Otay Rec Center
3554 Main St, Chula Vista, CA 91911

Volunteers will pick up trash, remove graffiti, and complete other projects that make Chula Vista shine. More information and to sign up online visit BeautifyChulaVista.org.

Waiver forms are available online or at the cleanup site. All volunteers are required to fill out a waiver form to participate, and anyone under the age of 18 needs a parent or guardian signature. Signed forms will be made available to volunteers who need verification of service hours. We will have all supplies needed at the cleanup site, but we encourage volunteers to bring their own reusable items (water bottles, work gloves, and buckets) if they have them to promote zero waste practices!

If you have any questions regarding the event, please contact Michelle Freeman at mfreeman@cleansd.org.

We hope to see you there!

DEA takeback

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Did you know tossing unused or expired prescription medications in the trash or flushing them down the toilet can have harmful effects on the environment? These drugs can enter our waterways and contaminate our local water supply.

Every Spring and Fall, the Drug Enforcement Agency hosts a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day to provide safe disposal of unused medication.  Safely disposing of prescription medication helps protect your family while also protecting the local environment. The DEA partners with local agencies to offer additional drop off locations to collect unused or expired medications for the public. Residents can drop off their unused medications on October 28, 2017 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at nearly 40 additional drop off sites in San Diego County. To find a drop off location near you, visit the National Take Back Initiative website.

Lookng to safely dispose of medication any other time of the year? Visit WasteFreeSD.org to find a participating Sheriff’s Station or Police Station.

Zero Waste Tip:

We All Need Sleep, Even Your Computer

Looking to go green? An easy place to get started is by setting your monitor to go to sleep after 15 minutes. According to the EPA, this small change decreases the monitor's energy usage to 1-3 watts rather than 65-250 watts and saves between $25 and $75 dollars per computer annually. With just our 19 computers at ILACSD, that would save us almost $2,000 each year! Find other helpful tips for a greener routine on WasteFreeSD.org or join us in Encinitas for our next Green Business Workshop on November 1, 2017!

Lowe’s Helps to Keep San Diego Beautiful with Community Improvement Grant

Keep America Beautiful announced the organization is providing I Love A Clean San Diego with a grant as part of the 2017 Keep America Beautiful/Lowe’s Community Partners Grant Program. This program engages local volunteers to take action to benefit their community with projects that focus on critical needs.

Once again, I Love A Clean San Diego has been awarded the Keep America Beautiful/Lowe's Community Partners Grant Program. Over the years, with this grant, I Love A Clean San Diego has been able to show some much needed love to underserved community parks throughout San Diego County. This year, we are mulching, planting, and painting to refresh those parks and provide communities with a completely renewed local spot to enjoy!

A huge thank you goes out to both Lowe's and Keep America Beautiful for helping us continue our work in protecting and enhancing San Diego County!

 Our Mission

I Love A Clean San Diego leads and inspires our community to actively conserve and enhance the environment through example, outreach, and local involvement.
