San Diego County Moves to the Red Tier
As of yesterday morning, San Diego County has officially moved into the Red Tier today. The Red Tier means modified indoor dining, indoor museums, indoor gym availability, and more. As more people get vaccinated, the number of cases should continue to decrease. Thank you for all you're doing to bring the numbers down in our community. More details.
Mandatory Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Available for Discounted Price through the Oceanside Chamber
California law requires all employers with five or more employees to provide sexual harassment prevention training to all employees by January 1, 2021, and then every two years. This mandatory training for supervisors (two hours) and nonsupervisory employees (one hour) must also take place within six months of hire or promotion and again every two years. (Taking these individual-learner courses in a group setting will not satisfy the state requirements.) The Oceanside Chamber of Commerce has partnered with CalChamber to offer a 20% discount for online Employee Harassment Prevention Training, and online Manager/Supervisor Harassment Prevention Training. The Oceanside Technology Center located at 1140 South Tremont Street, Oceanside, CA 92054 will host its grand opening on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 3:30 pm. The celebration will include a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by office tours and appetizers. The Oceanside Tech Center is the second location to be opened by the Technology Centers. The new office features 11 private office suites, a state-of-the-art conference room, and kitchen and lounge area. Every private office has windows or a skylight. The building is located close to the beach, local shops, and restaurants, as well as public transportation. The building is fully renovated and now features skylights and personally controlled thermostats in each office. More details and registration.

The City of Oceanside's Actions on Homelessness
The City of Oceanside is working every day to address this very complex issue. The issue of homelessness has and continues to be a top priority. Homelessness is multi-faceted with many contributing factors, including economic hardship, high housing costs, lack of job skills training, mental illness, substance use disorders, physical disabilities, limited support networks, life traumas, and more. The uniqueness of each homeless individual's situation requires a varied approach, and the more successful outcomes are built on a pattern of consistent engagement and building trust so the person will be in a position to accept the help that will lead to a lasting solution. The Planning Commission will conduct a workshop to provide comment on the Draft Policy Framework for the preparation of the South Morro Hills Community Plan. On November 6, 2019, the City Council directed the Development Services Department to prepare a community plan for the South Morro Hills neighborhood planning area. A community plan is a portion of the General Plan that focuses on important issues of a specific area within the City and establishes detailed policies to guide future land use and development. California Competes Tax Credit Application Period Starting March 8th

The California Competes Tax Credit (CCTC) is an income tax credit available to businesses that want to locate in California or stay and grow in California. Businesses of any industry, size, or location compete for over $180 million available in tax credits by applying in one of the three application periods each year. Applicants will be analyzed based on twelve different factors of evaluation, including number of full-time jobs being created, amount of investment, and strategic importance to the state or region. Chamber's Emerging Issues Forum Gives Update on the COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout
This month's Forum featured an update on the COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout. Representatives from the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency along with Tri-City Medical Center and Scripps Health gave attendees the latest details on the distribution of the vaccine. Oceanside Vaccination Site Moved to Offer Higher Capacity
A COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Oceanside will start administering shots Tuesday from a new location that can reach more people each day. The new walk-in clinic will be offering vaccines from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM Sunday through Thursday at the North Coastal Health and Human Services Agency building, 1701 Mission Ave. in Oceanside. County Extends Rent and Utility Assistance Application Period
The County of San Diego’s Emergency Rent and Utilities Assistance Program (ERAP) application period has been extended through March 31, 2021. The program prevents evictions and housing instability for low-income renters who have faced financial hardships due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The County’s ERAP serves renters countywide except those residing in the cities of San Diego and Chula Vista. The program is open to renters who have experienced financial hardship directly or indirectly related to COVID-19, or have qualified for unemployment during the pandemic. More details.
New Funding Rounds Announced for the California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program
Four new rounds to address ongoing need. Funding will support small businesses and non-profits that have struggled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
California’s Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA), part of the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), announced today four new funding rounds for the California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program following Governor Gavin Newsom signing into law a comprehensive package of immediate actions that speeds much-needed relief to individuals, families, and businesses suffering the most significant economic hardship due to COVID-19. Prescription Drug Take Back Day

On Saturday, April 24th from 10 AM - 2 PM, the North Coastal Prevention Coalition is hosting the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Prescription drug abuse is the nation’s fastest growing drug problem. Every day, nearly 2,500 teens abuse a prescription drug for the first time. Propelled by an increase in prescription narcotic overdoses, drug deaths now outnumber traffic fatalities in the United States. The easiest place to get prescription drugs is in someone’s medicine cabinet. Take-back days ensure safe disposal and protect the environment. Oceanside residents can drop off any unused prescription drugs to Tri-City Medical Center, 4002 Vista Way, Oceanside, CA 92056. Other locations include the Vista Courthouse and the San Marcos Sheriff Station, the Escondido Police Department and the Poway Sheriff Station. Learn more about NCPC.

Pledge to Take Sustainable Actions this Earth Month
This Earth Month, Mayor Sanchez is challenging the Oceanside community to take action for the planet and help the City win the nationwide Mayor’s Challenge competition. This annual contest measures sustainable actions within each City, and the winning cities receive prizes for their residents and funding for community improvement projects. Throughout the month of April, Oceanside residents can earn points for the City in the Challenge by pledging to take sustainable actions and logging their activities online. These easy-to-do activities can help form new habits and collectively make a difference in the quality of life for our community. Examples include neighborhood cleanups, home repairs, or simple lifestyle changes. Every action logged earns points for Oceanside and ultimately gets us one step closer to bringing home the coveted first place title! Innovative New Electric Vehicle-High Power Plan Offers Bill Stability
Businesses, transit agencies and school districts in the region that are considering making a switch to commercial electric vehicles are now able to take advantage of an innovative pricing plan that makes it possible to reap both financial and environmental benefits by powering their fleet with electricity. The optional subscription pricing plan, called the Electric Vehicle-High Power (EV-HP) rate, was recently approved unanimously by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). Those who sign up for the plan can choose the level of power to subscribe to for their charging needs and pay for it with a fixed monthly subscription fee. More details.
