SDG&E’s EV Charging Installations Have Begun
SDG&E has begun installing their Power Your Drive electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for apartments, businesses and condos. With almost 25,000 plug-in EVs on our region’s road, the 600 property owners and managers on the Power Your Drive interest list today, see the benefit in adding this amenity for their tenants and residents. Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) is hosting their 30th Annual Boys and Girls Night Out “Phantom of the Opera” Gala on Friday, October 13th, 2017. With more than 200 guests, including sponsors, city officials and supporters, the Gala has proven to be an inspiring and entertaining evening for everyone. BGCO is reaching out to community leaders and businesses for Live or Silent Auction Items. Not only is this a wonderful marketing opportunity for businesses, auction donations will help to raise much needed funds that will impact the lives of over 1,300 Club members each day.

California Competes" Tax Credit Workshop

Did you know the state of California is offering over $200 million in tax credits this year to business owners willing to add just one job? This unprecedented program is free and available to businesses of all sizes, in any city in California. Since Governor Brown created the program in 2014, almost 700 California business owners have claimed $492.5 million in tax credits and plan on creating over 70,000 jobs. Last year alone, businesses were awarded roughly $220 million and over 30% of the businesses that applied were approved for tax credits anywhere between $20,000 and $10,000,000. If you have 25 or more employees, you now must provide new employees with a written notice about the rights of victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking to take protected time off for medical treatment or legal proceedings. The notice also contains information on victims’ rights to accommodation and protections against discrimination. Read More.
SBDC Offers Free Business Consulting at Chamber Office
The North San Diego Small Business Development Center now offers one-on-one business consulting sessions at the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce. Linda Harasin provides consulting for small business owners on Monday afternoons. These are one-hour appointments. Clients can talk with Linda about what they need to move their business forward including: obtaining financing, business planning, increasing revenues, marketing, projections, and much more. Participants in the consulting program need to be established business owners. Appointments are required. Business owners can call the North San Diego SBDC at 760-795-8740 to make their appointment.
Citizens Water Academy Comes to North County
The application period for the Fall 2017 class is now open. Nominations are due Aug. 28. Applications are due Sept. 5.
The award-winning Citizens Water Academy is open to future and emerging leaders in the San Diego region who want to learn about critical projects and programs related to water.
Through the academy, the Water Authority is expanding and sustaining a diverse network of influencers who are willing to serve as outreach ambassadors on water issues and refer others to future academy classes.
The selection process is competitive and acceptance is not guaranteed. The Water Authority typically receives many more applications than spots available. More Info.
