Coastal Cleanup Day

Saturday, September 16, 2017

9 am - noon

Join us as we clean up and beautify 100+ beaches, canyons & neighborhoods. Last year,  7,550 volunteers came out to our 114 coastal and inland sites and successfully removed 185,000 pounds of litter in just 3 hours! Volunteers also helped build trails, plant new native landscape and remove graffiti. Join us this year and be a part of this international event!

Registration is open now! You can help out at sites with the highest need for volunteers by looking for a location with a green map marker. For more information and registration, head over to CleanupDay.org

When you register, pledge to Bring Your Own bucket, work gloves, a reusable water bottle, or all three! When you choose reusables, you help cut down on the number of disposable items used for the event!

Each volunteer will need to sign a waiver form and volunteers under the age of 18 will need a parent/guardian signature. Visit CleanupDay.org for more details!

We hope to see you there!

Zero Waste Tip:

Back to School Lunch Packing

School is back in session, remember to pack your food and snacks in your reusable lunch kits. Some of the lunch time essentials we suggest include reusable food containers, a reusable water bottle, and reusable utensils. High schoolers, college students, and parents sending children off to school can all be mindful about packing your food for the day. Switching to reusable containers to store your food and shopping in bulk to limit food packaging are easy ways to get started. Other helpful tips for  embarking on your zero waste journey can be found on WasteFreeSD.org. Head over to the Resources Page to learn how to make your lunch a zero waste meal, and find more zero waste tips for heading Back to School here!
