Chamber Partners with Google on Business Training During National Small Business Week
The Small Business Administration recently announced that this year’s National Small Business Week will be held from April 30-May 6, 2017. As part of the celebration, the Chamber is partnering with Google to offer a 1-Day series of free business workshops. All workshops will take place at the Chamber office on Wednesday, May 3rd.

Labor Enforcement Report Shows High Rate of Noncompliance

Since 2012, the Department of Industrial Relations has assumed responsibility for the Labor Enforcement Task Force (LETF), which is a coalition of state government enforcement agencies formed to combat the underground economy, such as paying employees off the books or not carrying workers’ compensation insurance. This multi-agency task force conducts joint inspections and includes such agencies as the Employment Development Department (EDD), the Contractors State License Board, the Board of Equalization and the Attorney General’s office. Job Killer Bills Continue to Advance in Senate

Senate policy committees last week continued to approve California Chamber of Commerce-opposed job killer bills.
The Senate Judiciary Committee passed SB 63 (Jackson; D-Santa Barbara), imposing a new maternity and paternity leave mandate.
The Senate Environmental Quality Committee approved SB 49 (de León; D-Los Angeles), which creates uncertainty and increases potential litigation regarding environmental standards. Read More.

Chamber Members Team up to Fight Cancer
Join the Oceanside Chamber and all the Oceanside teams for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life, Saturday April 29th – 30th at the MiraCosta College Football Field. Your favorite Oceanside businesses and professionals will be participating in a 24-hour relay walking around the track.
The Oceanside Chamber is a supporter of the event and has 23 Chamber members participating in the event. We will have multiple tents set up at the event and will encourage the public to come out and support their favorite businesses. More Info.

This Expo provides a great opportunity for local business owners to make new connections from around the region, build business relationships and strategic partnerships and grow their businesses.
