Happy New Year-ish and Happy Easter-ish! It's been a while but we’ve been working hard. We’ve got solid foundations in place, have very supportive community networks with many strands and we are looking forward to talking and sharing with you a bit more frequently as we keep moving forward on this learning journey.
Did you see the David Attenborough film this last week wth the urgency for us to think differently about how we go forward on this beautiful planet? The messages I took away were I Matter messages. The planet needs us to think individually about our own role right now. What will this look like as we go forward I wonder? Certainly some new thinking is needed and we are going to need to get better at relationships and at supporting relationship skills - in schools, and communities and across nations.
So, firstly, going forward this is going to be a newsletter with a focus mainly on professional training - including for professionals who are also parents. Why? Because there is an important need to revisit our collective professional ideas about evidence based practice for children and young people. I am aware that this focus may sometimes be frustrating to parents who are not professionals who would like to take part sooner rather than later. However, for now we have decided that focussing on professional training is the best way to increase availability of I Matter training for more parents and carers in the longer run. So as a team we hope you will be patient with the process. However stay tuned as we are working on more access for parents!
Secondly we wil be sending this newsletter more regularly. There will be regular items and links to dates, some of the content will run for a couple of times but always there will be something new! We hope you will find it informative and engaging.
Thirdly, and before we go any further,we’d like to remind you why what we do is important…and therefore why we want to ask you to support us as we move into a new phase. Children's wellbeing improves as relationships with key adults and others improve. So you can help by sharing this newsletter. telling people about our courses and supporting us with our bursary fundraising scheme which going forward will run alongside all of our work as a termly appeal process.
We are becoming skilled at helping small amounts go a long way! :)
