A Toast To Meb

He’s a hero and an inspiration to runners around the world. Whether you had the pleasure of meeting him in person or you witnessed his strength from afar, runners have appreciated the grit, humility and grace shown by Meb Keflezighi. Known familiarly as “Meb,” the Olympian will be closing the circle on his competitive running career, racing at the New York City Marathon – the same event that served as his debut back in 2002.

We at ElliptiGO look forward to his November 5th race with excitement and joy. Meb has been more than a spokesperson for ElliptiGO. He has been a member of our family. We welcomed Meb into the fold in January 2013. Meb believed in order to continue performing at the highest level, he needed to evolve his training and reduce the amount of pounding on his legs. We remember inviting him to try the ElliptiGO bike, where he experienced the low impact, heart pumping, running-like motion for the first time and has been hooked ever since.

Meb at the 2014 Boston Marathon

We recall being on the edge of our seat – and some of us actually on-site – for his many amazing performances, including his heroic 2014 Boston Marathon win, one year after the bombings. He also set his Marathon PR of 2:08:37, two weeks before his 39th birthday.  To celebrate his exceptional running career and to recognize the impact his Boston win had for the entire country, we partnered with him to produce our popular, limited edition “Meb 8S” elliptical bike in 2014. We cheered as he qualified and competed in his amazing fourth Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

In short, we’ve been blessed to support Meb in the latter stage of his career, and have been truly honored to have him as a partner and advocate for low impact cross-training. Meb has touched countless lives, inspiring and helping extend the running lives of athletes, young and old, competitive and recreational. We can’t think of a more unifying figure in the sport of running than Meb Keflezighi.

Meb:  good luck in your final marathon, and we look forward to riding many more miles with you.
