We love seeing everything come to fruition for our kids. Jaylen is the first TriCities student to receive the distinction of Fulton County Student of the Year. When he joined our mentoring program as a senior, our Atlanta Mentor Coordinator Jackie Perkins “knew he was exceptional from day one.” A great student, Jaylen is known for his big smile and equally big heart – launching a “Warm Hugs for Marq” community drive, using his design skills to upcycle garments into a blanket for a homeless neighbor. Jackie adds, “To see these students thrive in the face of adversity has been one of the biggest pleasures of my life.” Congratulations Jaylen – we are in awe of everything you've accomplished and so excited to see where life takes you. You can help more youth benefit from our programs and services with a donation today. https://lnkd.in/ewivwCBr #SUFKAtlanta #StandUpForKids #Education #ClassOf2024 #WarmHugsForMarq #MentoringMatters #YouthEmpowerment #Mentoring #Atlanta

As graduation season gets underway, we’re so proud of all our youth have achieved. They face many challenges that can hinder academic performance – from transient housing, transportation issues, lack of school supplies, chronic absenteeism, poor health, fatigue, hunger and mental health issues. According to SchoolHouse Connection (https://lnkd.in/d_5MmUzZ), the 2020-2021 national average graduation rate for homeless students was 68%. The lack of a H.S. diploma or/GED is the single greatest risk factor for experiencing homelessness for young adults. We know a solid education can make all the difference in the future for homeless youth and offer a lifeline of programs and services to keep them in school: - Housing support - Drop-in Outreach Centers where youth can study - Mentoring programs - Liaison with social workers/community partners - Free bus passes to get to school - Donate school supplies - Distribute food and snack packs Help us put more kids on the road to success with a donation today. https://lnkd.in/deTNQiTe #StandUpForKids #SchoolHouseConnection #EndYouthHomelessness #Nonprofit #Advocacy #YouthPrograms

All the numbers in last week’s poll are true, except for D. The sad truth is that every day, 13 at-risk youth will die due to assault, illness, or suicide trying to survive on the streets – that’s approximately 5,000 per year – and that is just way too high. There are so many harsh realities awaiting America’s most vulnerable kids trying to find shelter in cheap hotels, parks, abandoned buildings, and other unsuitable or unstable locations. They’re exposed to predators, drug and alcohol misuse, human trafficking, acute diseases, food insecurity, unwanted pregnancies, and untreated mental illness. They’re counting us to save them and we’re counting on you. Your gift will go to work immediately – providing meals, emergency shelter, mentorship, education, and long-term housing. https://buff.ly/44BnMH6 #StandUpForKids #EndYouthHomelessness #YouthHomelessness #YouthPrograms #Outreach #Philanthropy #Advocacy #KidsInNeed

What words of encouragement would you offer to a homeless child? In the first 2 days without shelter, newly homeless kids might do things they can’t take back: follow a stranger home, take drugs to cope, swap sex for food. As they share so honestly with us in this video, the dangers are real and the outcomes are harsh. But if we reach them first, there’s hope. ON THE STREET No place to sleep Scavenging for meals Avoiding dangerous individuals Feeling lost and helpless OFF THE STREET Access to safe housing Receiving food/snack handouts Connecting with caring adults Guidance from mentors Your gift can help us move more kids from surviving to thriving. https://buff.ly/44BnMH6 #StandUpForKids #48Hours #48HoursToSaveALife #EndYouthHomelessness #EndingTheCycle #Nonprofit #Outreach

The first 48 hours on the street for a newly homeless youth can be the difference between a life of heartache and a life of hope. This April, during our 48 Hours Campaign, we are ramping up awareness as our volunteers hit the streets and known hotspots (under bridges, bus stations, city parks) to distribute sleeping bags, clothing, food packs, and hygiene products and connect these kids with emergency housing, outreach centers and vital resources and referrals to put them on a path to a better future. Learn more and how you can help us find more kids in need. https://buff.ly/4cT3GgQ #StandUpForKids #StandUpInAction #48Hours #48HoursToSaveALife #Nonprofit #Advocacy #Outreach #YouthHomelessness #MentalHealth #Mentoring

Our mission is to save as many homeless kids as we can from the dangers that exist on the streets — especially in the first 2 days without shelter. We show them that they matter, that we really care, and, more importantly, that they are not alone. This is the focus of our April 48 Hours To Save A Life Awareness Campaign, where our volunteers search for youth in known hotspots. Help us raise awareness and share this post! Happy Founders’ Day, Alpha Xi Delta! Your kindly hearts have made an amaXIng impact on our work, and your ongoing support means that our young people experiencing homelessness do not walk alone. 💜
Each year on April 17 we honor the legacy of our Founders and their vision of a community where women feel supported and loved by one another. This year, in conjunction with Founders' Day, we're hosting Day of Giving! With your gift to the Foundation, you are helping to ensure our Sisterhood is strong now and well into the future.
