Earlier this year, the Chamber formed an Economic Recovery Task Force to address the needs of our business community as we emerge from the pandemic. We have identified four key areas of focus including: Stay and Play Local Initiatives, Leveraging Arts and Culture for Economic Recovery, Homelessness Solutions, and Gateway Beautification. The Chamber recently sent a letter to the Mayor and Councilmembers to urge the prioritization of Gateway Beautification and Safety. The following are some of the key excerpts from that letter… I am writing today specifically on the topic of Gateway Beautification, as this is a major area of concern for our business community. Many of the entry points to our beautiful city do not give the welcoming “first impression” we would like to provide to those who live, work and play in Oceanside. Our City has come a long way over the past couple of decades with resort hotels, high quality mixed-use developments and one of the best restaurant scenes in San Diego County. However, our gateways do not currently reflect the beauty that is found within our City. As the City moves forward with the Onward Oceanside general plan update and considers how to spend funding from the American Rescue Plan, we respectfully request that prioritization be given to improving the aesthetics and safety of Oceanside’s gateway areas. As beautification and a sense of safety are closely tied together, I would like to add that we are pleased to hear of the Oceanside Police Department’s plans to bring back bicycle patrols for the summer season. We hope to see the expansion of that program in the future. As we work to help our business community recover and prosper, we ask for your partnership in addressing these key issues. If our businesses prosper, our whole community will benefit. I am and have been a proud resident of Oceanside for 20 years and have been a small business owner for 10 years. Oceanside is where I live, work and play. I have been a chamber member for at least 10 years. I am one of the newest members of the board and was honored when asked to join the board. I believe in giving back to the community that has supported me, my family and business for the past 20 years. Serving on the board has been one of my greatest recent joys. It has allowed me to be involved in advocating for policies to grow our economic community and join in the conversation for economic recovery for local businesses and the community. This has been a rough year for so many local businesses both small and large as well as our many nonprofit organizations; they all contribute to the Oceanside economy. Therefore, I am excited to co-chair the Economic Recovery Task Forcethe goal is to support our local business community in economic recovery by encouraging and influencing improvements to the business environment as it recovers from losses due to the pandemic. As someone who lives and works in Oceanside, I am honored to be a member of the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce and a contributing member on the board of directors. Oceanside’s cultural community plays an important role in the social and economic fabric of our city. I am most excited about the work we are doing with Economic Recovery and the opportunity to support existing city programs and to create new opportunities to make Oceanside a better place. I joined the Chamber of Commerce several years ago as a new resident and business owner in Oceanside to meet people and engage with the local business community. Serving as a board member has allowed me an opportunity to learn more about local issues, to collaborate with other organizations and to actively support our local businesses. My business is a small family-owned business that promotes marine recreation, education and ocean stewardship. The ocean, our beaches and our harbor have helped to shape our city’s unique identity and economy. Oceanside’s “blue economy” will continue to evolve and grow with innovation and tourism. I can’t imagine starting a business without the chamber as a resource. I was able to connect with other businesses who provide business services. We are also able to stay abreast of all city issues. As we reach the mid-point of 2021 and see COVID-19 fading into our rear-view mirror, we are all hopeful and relieved. “Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards.” – Vernon Sanders Law The Chamber’s role is to encourage innovation, but seldom has it been more beneficial to shift quickly and have the courage and willingness to take risks. Over this past 18 months we have had to risk much, lead by example and provide a hand-up to our business community. We’ve learned much. Our restaurants, retailers, small-businesses, entertainment, and cultural communities have had to develop new business models. Creating a Plan B has been critical in their survival and community has been everything. I am encouraged by what I have seen our city leaders and business community do over the past 18 months. These are new times, and we have proven that we are ready to take them on. NURSE OF THE YEAR – NIGHT SHIFT

It is very difficult for an OR Nurse to be recognized by a patient or family member. However, this is what happened with this special nurse. This nurse consistently works above the bar to bring quality care to all of her patients.

Olivia was nominated by the ICU because she has always stepped up and taken care of things during night shift. She works as either a Charge RN or RRT RN and is always available to assist other departments in the hospital with questions and/or patients. During the Pandemic, she was a leader, a resource, and she remained positive in the most bleak of circumstances in order to support the unit. There were times when she had to advocate for the patients, the families, and assist her co-workers when they were falling apart emotionally. Thank you, Olivia for being our rock.

A father of a surgical patient called the OR. His daughter had surgery and he stated that this OR nurse was so comforting to his daughter who was anxious and alone before going into surgery. This nurse took time and sat with the patient offered to pray with her. This gave the patient so much peace and comfort before going into the OR. The father stated, this nurse took the time “to recognize my daughter as a soul that needed acknowledgement and comfort in her time of anxiety”. This father was moved to tears he wanted to nominate her for an award. Our wonderful OR nurse is Tessa Watkins. She is wellrespected by her colleagues, physicians, and now we know patients!!

RN PANDEMIC HERO (COVID AWARD)

Jillian Williams, ICU Even though it was very difficult to nominate just one Pandemic Hero, Jillian was nominated by the ICU because she is an exceptional nurse that really stepped up during the Pandemic. She worked extra shifts on days and most especially nights in order to provide additional nurses to take care of our patients. Jillian worked tirelessly to help our Covid population and a piece of her was always with her patients. She remained positive during a time that was extremely difficult so we wanted to recognize her for all of her hard work.

David Hughes, PACU Tech David was nominated by the ICU for all of his “above and beyond” help during the Pandemic. In addition to his duties as a Tech in the PACU, he made time in his day to be a part of the ICU Proning Team. David always has a smile on his face and he was absolutely wonderful with our patients and the staff. Thank you, David for being our “essential” support.

69% of California’s creative businesses have been severely impacted by COVID-19 according to Americans for the Arts. This is also true for many of those in the Oceanside CA Cultural District. Despite this year of struggle, 76% of artists used their art to raise morale and create community cohesion during the pandemic. Here are some remarkable things as the Cultural District embarks on its last year prior to seeking State re-designation. The Oceanside Public Library at 330 N Coast Highway is creating an Early Learning and Community Information Hub. The space will provide a welcoming and purposeful environment, with staff, volunteers and key community partners, experienced in identifying helpful resources, providing workshops, and generating valuable connections and support for our youngest residents and their families. Artwork “Fishies” by local artist Amanda Oswald will hang permanently in the hub. Visitors to the Civic Center Library or Mission Branch Library will be able to enjoy more of her art in the gallery spaces through August 2021.

The Hill Street Country Club at LinkSoul has held impactful exhibits and has done community programming such as the Mobile Art Workshop with the Oceanside Public Library, Re-Use Project with Boys & Girls Club, and Papercutz Zine Club Archival Project throughout the pandemic. They are working to raise funds for “Bottega Boutika”, a mobile cafe and craft school trailer. Their upcoming fundraiser gala event, will provide a supportive platform to grass-roots organizations of marginalized communities within the San Diego area and provide funding for classes, lessons, kits, speakers, teaching, artists events and important causes. WATCH ART COME TO LIFE The public is invited to watch art come to life in front of them in the open air as artists will be painting outside across Oceanside all week long. All festival artists will be out in public view capturing coastal and urban scenery on canvases with a variety of media. It is a unique opportunity to witness the creative process that results in a finished work of art within a short period of time. All are invited to the virtual artist talk with featured artists Mark Fehlman, Danny Griego, Margaret Larlham, and Shuang Li as well as the lecture with Jean Stern.

COLLECT YOUR FAVORITE VIEWS Artists, enthusiasts, and art collectors are invited to come paint the town in Oceanside July 24-31!

PAINT THE TOWN Outdoor painters and urban sketchers of all experience levels are encouraged to come capture varied vistas that included beaches, cityscapes, hills, and lagoons, as well as historic landmarks like the pier and Mission San Luis Rey on the canvas of their choosing. In keeping with the museum’s mission of supporting art and artists, students will enjoy free registration and artists experiencing financial hardship may apply for a fee waiver. welcome Oceanside Chamber Welcomes New Team Members Gwen Bryson is a true SoCal native, having been born and raised in Oceanside and currently living in South O. Gwen came up through our local education system, having attended El Camino High School and MiraCosta College. Gwen was hired this past Spring as the Chamber’s Customer Service Specialist and is frequently the first voice you will hear when calling the Chamber office. Gwen is a team player and has been instrumental in assisting her co-workers with a wide variety of projects. Although new to the Oceanside Chamber, Gwen has 5 years of experience in the Chamber industry, having served as Information Specialist at the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. Prior to her Chamber career, Gwen had 20 years working experience in the local action sports industries. When not at work, Gwen has a variety of interests that fit perfectly with the Southern California lifestyle, including walking and hiking, shopping and dining and the local beach & surf culture. Since living in the San Diego area Margery has worked in the Chamber Industry as a Business Development Manager, and now for the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce as the new Business Development Specialist. She was a journalist for eight years, including one at the San Diego bureau of the Associated Press and a few in the community news section of the “Union-Tribune.” Victoria then pivoted to the advertorial side of the house, communications, for local entities of Marine Corps Community Services, Barnes & Noble, Catholic Charities, and the Girl Scouts. For a decade, she helped implement community-based public policy initiatives when she served on substance abuse prevention coalitions in several capacities: as a staff member in North County, a board member in North Carolina, and a communications associate for the coalitions’ national advocacy association in Washington, D.C. She then worked for political appointees of the Obama and Trump administrations in the Office of Advocacy at the U.S. Small Business Administration in Washington, D.C. Victoria most recently worked as the education manager at the headquarters of the PsychArmor Institute in San Diego. Mission Pacific Hotel and The Seabird Resort Debut in Oceanside City and Community leaders, including current and past Oceanside City Councilmembers and Mayors were in attendance to celebrate the long-awaited opening of the Mission Pacific Hotel and the Seabird Resort. According to a Hyatt press release, this project represents “the largest oceanfront hotel development in San Diego County in more than 50 years.” A library on the second floor of The Seabird Resort is dedicated to former Oceanside Mayor Jim Wood. Mayor Wood was in attendance with his family to take part in the celebration.

Hands-On Training Brings Book Learning to Life Engineering? Information Technology? Child Development? Medical Technology? Which pathway is best? For the students enrolled in the Oceanside Unified School District’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, the path of least resistance would be hard to pinpoint. The program provides students at Oceanside, El Camino, and (coming soon) Surfside high schools, a choice of taking courses in career Pathways from 8 of the 15 ‘high priority’ industry sectors. The Pathways are: Arts, Media and Entertainment; Engineering and Architecture; Energy, Environment and Utilities; Education, Child Development and Family Services; Information and Communication Technologies; Transportation; Health Science and Medical Technology; Public Service; Building Trades and Construction; and Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation. A unique public-private partnership between CTE and the Hyatt corporation also gave students in the Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation Pathway paid, onthe-job training in what it takes to open a new hotel, two new hotels, actually. The students were part of the Junior Task Force and assisted in numerous roles in preparing to open the Hyatt’s two new boutique lodging facilities, the Mission Pacific Hotel and

adjacent Seabird Resort hotels and its six restaurants that opened in May. Samuel Rosales, an El Camino CTE student employed at the Hyatt on the Junior Task Force, was hired on to stay in Food Service at the Mission Pacific. “Hyatt was hiring to give experience to us with no experience. Any kind of experience in hospitality can help with any job because of the ‘soft skills’ we have learned,” Samuel said. Learning the technical skills to prepare students for college and careers are only half of what project-based training is, said Katieann Henkel, CTE career counselor. Some students are earning simultaneously credits at MiraCosta College. Others are taking high school classes that are academically aligned to university admission. “It’s also about the ‘soft skills’ we teach our students. Collaboration, communication, problem solving, time management, email and phone etiquette, willingness to seek out help, and the ability to ask questions to clarify. They have training and education that non-CTE enrolled students won’t have,” Henkel said. “These are skills that will help our students in the workforce and in life.”

The Hyatt student employment program is a model one for area employers that are interested in developing the young workforce to contribute to economic recovery, Henkel said. Summer 2021 | www.oceansidechamber.com

“Employers get to help mold our students into what they’re looking for in an employee. If they keep the students on as workers, then they are molding good workers,” she said. During the past year and a half, education has adapted to a virtual classroom setting, but despite the challenges, the high-quality CTE program has continued. The students recently held an exposition of their best work, with all class projects conducted virtually during the COVID-19 Pandemic that closed their schools. For the Transportation pathway, students recorded themselves changing the oil of their parent’s vehicle. For the Arts, Media and Entertainment Pathway, photography students documented a masked community and others created a campaign featured on local TV news to help prevent binge and underage drinking. For the woodworking pathway, students sanded, stained and built a cabinet. The woodworking teacher said he has been approached by local businesses to hire his students as carpenters and cabinet makers as soon as they are trained. Since all teachers come from industry, the program is more relevant. “I went through a CTE program in high school. My teachers were a guiding light for me, and I have tried to be that for our students.” Henkel said. “At the end of the day, it is about each individual student and their Pathway to career success.” CTE programs provide students the opportunity to explore careers, engage with employers, and develop the skills needed to succeed in our postPandemic economy. The program welcomes professionals from each of these industries to share their expertise with students by teaching classes, offering job-shadowing field trips for middle and high school students, being special guest speakers, and offering internships, externships, apprenticeships, and mentorships so students can gain real-world, practical application of the education gained in the CTE program. The Chamber Debuts New Workforce Development Program In April, the Chamber launched its new workforce development program. Part of its Advancing Oceanside Workforce Development Initiative, the program plans to conduct a needs analysis to develop a thorough understanding of the short-term and long-term workforce needs of Oceanside’s business community as well as explore opportunities for training of youth, transitioning our service members into the civilian workforce, and reskilling of workers displaced by COVID-19 in order to prepare them for employment in emerging industries. The program’s coordinator, Victoria Carlborg, has been partnering with employers, employees, job seekers, and training providers such as the Oceanside Unified School District’s Career and Technical Education Program (see the article on this page) in order to understand what their needs are and bridge any gaps and barriers through our health and economic recovery. An expanded Chamber website and job bank will connect members with resources to support that recovery and help keep Oceanside prosperous. FR A ZIER FARMS 50th Anniversary The Oceanside Chamber of Commerce recognizes Frazier Farms as this local grocer celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The Frazier family opened their first store in Escondido in 1971, offering locally grown produce, and quality natural and organic products. Today there are three locations: Vista, La Mesa and Oceanside. The Oceanside store, located at 1820 Oceanside Boulevard, held its grand opening on July 9, 2014 and the Oceanside Chamber helped to celebrate the new store with a ribbon cutting that day. In the late 1960s the Hobie Cat Company was the largest manufacturer of small catamarans in the world. As the Hobie Catamaran sailboat business was booming, Hobie outgrew its San Juan Capistrano facility in 1973 and added a distribution facility in Irvine. In 1976 the Coleman Company purchased the thennamed Coast Catamaran Corporation and decided to consolidate production and distribution so in 1978 Hobie sold the Irvine facility and purchased a property at the end Oceanside Blvd, which at that time was a lonely 4-lane highway that dead-ended at a dirt field and didn’t yet go through to Melrose Drive or connect to Bobier. The location was important because it was adjacent to a railroad freight siding (now beside the Sprinter tracks from Oceanside to Escondido) where Hobie could make railcar shipments of sailboats to dealers across the USA. The three buildings on the property and were designed and built specifically for manufacturing and distributing fiberglass sailboats. In May of 1979 Hobie made the move from Irvine to

Oceanside with all staff wearing their red transition t-shirts and most of the staff started moving from Orange County to North San Diego. By 1989 the sailboat market had declined and Coleman sold Coast Catamaran to a private owner and the Oceanside Blvd property to the City of Oceanside. Hobie leased the two smaller manufacturing buildings and a small portion of the larger admin and warehouse building for office space. In 1995 Hobie got another group of owners and the boat business began to grow again. Since then, Hobie Kayaks have replaced Catamarans as its main product, and production has transitioned from fiberglass to plastic with five large rotational molding ovens on the property that produce molded plastic kayaks 24 hours a day. To meet demands, Hobie Cat added two

additional facilities on nearby Calle Platino – an 80,000 square foot shipping warehouse, and a part and accessory warehouse. NCTD Receives $4 Million Grant to Support Transition to ZeroEmissions Bus Operations The North County Transit District (NCTD) announced that the California Energy Commission (CEC) has awarded the District a $4 million grant to construct a hydrogen fueling station at the agency’s West Division BREEZE Facility in Oceanside. Once constructed, this station will have the capacity to support up to 50 hydrogen fuel-cell electric buses bringing the District closer toward achieving its goal of transitioning its entire fleet to zero-emission buses by 2042. “NCTD remains committed to being on the forefront of zero-emissions technology, providing clean transportation choices for our customers, and improving the air quality in our communities. This grant will enable us to do just that and accelerate our transition to a zero-emission fleet,” said Tony Kranz, NCTD Board Chair and Encinitas Deputy Mayor. “What’s more, this new technology and infrastructure will improve overall BREEZE operations by decreasing the time needed to refuel, expanding the service range, and increasing the fuel economy of our fleet.”

Oceanside Claims First Place in the National Mayor’s Challenge for Sustainability The City of Oceanside placed first in the 2021 Wyland National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation, earning Oceanside the most water-wise city designation for the upcoming year. You may have heard about climate action strategies or initiatives while scrolling through social media, watching a viral video, and catching your daily news podcast, but did you know that a great way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is to go zero waste? By keeping materials from reaching and breaking down in the landfill, you can reduce methane emissions (which are 71 times more potent than CO2), save resources, energy, water, and cut emissions generated from producing new products, all while helping the City reach a 75-90% diversion rate. While sometimes you may feel helpless in the face of climate change, by taking action and including simple zero waste strategies in your everyday lifestyle, you can and WILL make a difference for the planet.

future talent The Tibesar Family It has been said that the family that plays together stays together. Parents looking for meaningful time to spend together, and their children, can be challenging in this fast-paced and busy world. The importance of bonding and communication along with fun and laughter cannot be discounted. When families find activities that captivate and engage each member of the family, it is sure to bring them all closer together. Adam Tibesar and his family have found what they believe is the perfect activity for themselves and their young children: Martial Arts in the form of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Gracie Barra Oceanside. Gracie Barra prides itself on being family orientated. “Gracie Barra is proud to be a powerhouse with the most stalwart champions of Jiu-Jitsu in the world while still maintaining a training environment that is welcoming for the whole family: men, women, and children. At Gracie Barra, families find marvelous activities through which to spend quality time together.” Staff Sergeant Tibesar and his wife Ryan have traveled the United States and beyond, while he serves in the Marine Corps. Stationed in Okinawa, San Diego, Seattle and now Camp Pendleton, they experience challenges facing most military families. Because military children are often uprooted as they travel from place to place, it is hard to connect and make friends. But Tibesar says his children have found

friends in their new sport and they enjoy a commonality with other children while they practice together. Their three children: MacLain age 9, Bronson age 7, and Everenn 4 ½, are all active in Gracie Barra. Adam and his wife Ryan attended the first classes and felt it was a perfect discipline to introduce to their children. At the first the kids were both nervous and excited about the prospect of learning jiu-jitsu, so the family watched the sport online to familiarize themselves. Prior to Gracie Barra, the Tibesar children had ventured into a variety of sports but nothing “clicked” and seemed a good fit. Intermural sports have a season, but jiu-jitsu can be enjoyed year-round. It is also a simple sport, sustainable for families without a lot of equipment and expense. With everyone wearing a white Gi (the uniform), everyone is equally respected and accepted. Professor Doug is the head trainer at Gracie Barra Oceanside and Tibesar said that he is amazing with kids of all ages and that he has a great demeaner. During the training sessions it may all seem like chaos, but Professor Doug remains calm and collected and teaches young kids with patience. Jiu jitsu is a form of Martial Arts but unlike Karate, it is low impact. Some parents may be concerned about physicality but there is no striking, punching or kicking. The Tibesar’s practice twice a week with Saturday being family day as they practice techniques and games. They enjoy time on the mats and have a daily routine. They have a special spot in their home where continued on page 37

Where’s the sand? !S.O.S. Oceanside! is working to bring it back! Oceanside is an amazing beach community that is normally known for its wide and sandy beaches. Each year, Oceanside beaches suffer an increasing loss of sand. Historically, the Lake Henshaw Dam construction disrupted the sand transport down the San Luis Rey River to the shoreline. The installation and construction of the Camp Pendleton boat basin exacerbated by Oceanside Harbor breakwaters also blocked and redirected sand that would naturally flow via littoral transport south to Oceanside beaches. This sand is washed out to offshore deepsea canyons. Due to significant loss of natural sand deposits, coastal properties have experienced damage along the Strand from severe winter storms. Our Beaches have significantly narrowed North of Tyson Street and disappeared South of Tyson Street. Public safety is impacted by this loss of sand. With no sand on the beach, access for lifeguards/First responders is negatively impacted. Lifeguards no

longer have access to drive their rescue vehicles along the beach to safely execute rescues. With delayed shore response, a delayed response is via lifeguard boat or personal watercraft. Additionally, the loss of our sand negatively affects the natural ecosystem for birds, fish and sand dwelling creatures. The Western Snowy Plover population has seen decline for several years due to this loss of habitat. Oceanside! established in 2019, is over 300 members strong and growing. Their primary focus is advocating for sustainable solutions to restore Oceanside beaches. Efforts include outreach to local, regional, state, and federal authorities on supporting solutions to the dire Oceanside coastal sand issues. Most recently, they have been successful in influencing the Oceanside City Council’s unanimous vote to fund a feasibility study is developing a strategy to protect City beaches from the impacts of long-term shoreline erosion. A private coastal engineering firm, GHD is performing the preliminary engineering evaluation and feasibility study to consider options for beach sand replenishment and/ or retention devices to stabilize and enhance the beach widths in Oceanside. GHD is nearly complete in developing proposals for the city to consider for beach replenishment/retention solutions. The Arena Califino, a multi-purpose sports arena and events facility coming to El Corazon recently broke ground. The 171,291 sq. ft. arena will be built on 5 acres at the eastern end of the property near Rancho Del Oro Drive. The indoor arena will seat 6,367 people for sporting events and 7,922 people for concerts. The arena will also feature a 36,000 sq. ft. outdoor plaza for events and receptions, on the southwest corner of the property, closest to the new aquatics center.

Tri-City Medical Center: Six Decades of Service Through the 1950s, the north coastal region of San Diego County was rural and had few services of its own. However, by 1960 the region was beginning to grow rapidly and the fundamental need for community Tri-City Healthcare District healthcare to “Founding Fathers” maintain prosperity 1955 Chamber Presidents: Eugene L. became apparent. Geil (Oceanside), C.H. McLean (Vista) and B.M. Christiansen (Carlsbad) Recognizing this, visionary leaders from the Oceanside, Carlsbad and Vista Chambers of Commerce, along with elected officials and business leaders from the three cities, developed a plan for creating a medical center to serve the needs of a growing region. Soon, with the support of a wide array of local leaders and voters, a bond was approved to construct a hospital and the Tri-City Hospital District was formed. On July 16, 1961, Tri-City Hospital, as it was called then, opened its doors with 87 patient beds and care provided by 42 physicians. Two days later, community volunteers formed the Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary to actively participate in their community hospital, and in 1963 community advocates formed the Friends of the Tri-City Hospital to provide philanthropic support.

SIX DECADES OF SERVICE Over time, the hospital became Tri-City Medical Center, an advanced health care facility with 388 patient beds treating tens of thousands of community members every year. The evolution continued on the philanthropic side as the Friends of Tri-City Hospital grew into the Tri-City Hospital Foundation, which continues to play a major role in bringing the latest in medical technology to the center. ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES During its first two decades, Tri-City Medical Center expanded its services to meet the increasing needs of a growing population. It added a helipad, cardiopulmonary lab, 46-bed tower, 56-bed north wing, additional surgical suites and a 42-bed maternity unit, bringing the total bed count to 231. Over the next two decades it invested in advanced technologies to bring modern medical services like heart surgeries, MRIs, neonatal intensive care and advanced emergency care capabilities to those who needed it most. Tri-City Medical Center’s six decades of growth has been guided by intentional and strategic investments that align with the needs of the community it serves including new technologies, health services and community care programs to enhance the community’s overall health while improving equity in health outcomes. To support data-driven decision making, Tri-City Medical Center utilizes the Hospital

Association of San Diego and Imperial Counties’ Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA), which analyzes hospital statistics, community input and major healthcare trends to identify and prioritize the specific health issues affecting communities.

Once the COVID-19 vaccine became available, Tri-City Medical Center hosted vaccine clinics at the hospital, providing nearly 30,000 vaccine doses and counting since its inception. It also helped provide thousands more vaccine doses as part of a multi-agency vaccination partnership at CSU San Marcos and launched a program to help vaccinate homebound seniors as well.

IT’S ABOUT PEOPLE But Tri-City Medical Center’s quest to advance healthcare in the region isn’t about technologies – it’s about people. To holistically improve people’s lives, the hospital’s dedication extends beyond the care provided within the hospital. WORLD-CLASS CARE The combination of world-class care and community stewardship has earned national recognition for the hospital. Tri-City Medical Center has been named a Top 100 Hospital several times, received National Certifications in stroke care and heart failure for its Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center, been named a Best Maternity Hospital by Newsweek, won Wound Care Facility of the Year, been designated as a Blue Distinction Center for cardiac care and spine surgery by Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and won countless awards for its heart and stroke care. Additionally, in recognition of their commitment and impact on the community, Tri-City has been recognized in recent years with the Community Impact Award from the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, Corporate Citizen of the Year from the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce and Philanthropist of the Year by MiraCosta College. Although accolades have never been the point, they are a symbol of pride in the community for the high level of specialized care their local hospital provides. What was once a small neighborhood hospital in coastal North County is now a beacon of modern healthcare and a regional economic powerhouse. Tri-City Medical Center is grateful for the leadership and foresight of its founders and is honored by the responsibility placed upon it by the community. Nonetheless, the goal was never to create a hospital to help the community for only six decades. Rather, the goal was to create a regional health center that would champion state-of-the-art care while being a fixture in the community for as long as needed.
