From packing to when you arrive, you can make small changes to your traveling routine that will lead to living a sustainable lifestyle. Read more in our latest blog by clicking the link below!

Recycling brings hope to hospitals around the world

What started as one woman’s curiosity has transformed into an international effort. Laura Luxemburg, the founder of Ssubi Is Hope, discovered that a lot of medical supplies were being sent to landfills instead of the hands of those who could use them. Click the link below to learn more about Laura’s journey and her partnership with WasteFreeSD!

Volunteer Spotlight

This month we would like to spotlight a volunteer who has made it to every single cleanup these past three months: Ana Young! Ana has made volunteering at our events a staple of her Saturday mornings, plus, she and her family are going to join us at our upcoming Black Mountain Ranch Cleanup this Saturday Dec. 5th!

Ana volunteers not only to give back to her community, but also to set an example for her son, Diego.  They have been volunteering as a family across the country, from Virginia to San Diego.  Her motto is “Volunteers are love in motion” and we definitely feel the love from you and your family! Thank you for your passion and inspiring work ethic, Ana!

Kearny High School students explore local water quality

edu spotlight cropped

Did you know that our storm drains are not filtered or treated? Kearny High School’s Digital Media Design students saw the impact of storm water first-hand on our San Diego River fieldtrip as part of the Think Blue Brigade. In an 800 square-foot area adjacent to a storm drain outlet, they collected 739 pieces of litter in under 2 hours. Students also conducted water quality tests at the river, discovering low turbidity and low dissolved oxygen levels. After seeing the impacts of pollution, our students have recommitted to preventing pollution in their school and neighborhoods. Thank you, Kearny High School for investing your time in our local environment!

4S/Del Sur Charitable Foundation invests in beautification

CCF hand logo

Thanks to the generous support of the 4S/Del Sur Charitable Foundation, I Love A Clean San Diego will conduct a large-scale cleanup and beautification event at Black Mountain Ranch, an area that  was affected by the 2014 wildfires. The wildfires destroyed much of the brush in the area, which revealed large amounts of illegally dumped materials & litter that was once hidden. We invite the community to join us on Saturday, December 5th from 9am-noon as we come together to restore the beauty of this open space area!
