Adopt-A-Canyon Adds Two Adoptable Escondido Sites

Thanks to the generous support of the Escondido Charitable Foundation, I Love A Clean San Diego has added two new Adopt-A-Canyon sites: Dixon Lake and Kit Carson Park! ILACSD invites the Escondido community and neighboring areas to help kickoff this new program by attending the first Clean Canyons Cleanup at Dixon Lake on Saturday, February 27 from 9am-noon. Individuals and volunteer groups of all ages are welcome.

Sam's Passion for Zero Waste

Today, we'd like to introduce I Love A Clean San Diego's Contract Manager, Sam! Before joining the team in October, Sam worked in politics. He soon realized that there was such a wide array of issues that needed to be addressed and ILACSD was his chance to hone in on one topic and make a difference.

One area that Sam is particularly interested in is the idea of Zero Waste. San Diego has a couple progressive goals to meet within the next few years and Sam has been following the city's progress along the way on behalf of ILACSD.

If you’re interested in learning more about San Diego’s Zero Waste initiatives, consider joining Sam at the 3rd Annual Zero Waste Symposium on Tuesday, February 23th hosted by Zero Waste San Diego and the County of San Diego.  Follow the links below to get started!

Volunteer Spotlight

This month ILACSD would like to spotlight one of the biggest volunteer teams from our Tsunami Sweepers Cleanup, the Torrey Pines High School Key Club! The Key Club has been to every one of the Tsunami Sweepers Cleanup since our first one in January of 2014.  The Key Club joined over 300 volunteers who cleaned up more than 500 pounds of debris from Torrey Pines State Beach.  Check out our blog for a full recap of the cleanup!

These students joined the Key Club because they value community service.  In their own words, “Every cup of water you hand out, every plastic bottle you pick up, everything you do is important.”  Thank you Torrey Pines High School Key Club for showing us that community involvement and environmental stewardship starts young and grows from there!
